Present Time Anointing Oil

A tropical grass native to Sri Lanka and India with fragrant roots that have a long history of use for its aroma. It is said that the oldest aromatic use of this plant is to weave its roots into mats, then dampened and hung up as curtains to cool and scent the air with its pleasant aroma. The essential oil of the roots also has a long history of use and is renowned as the Oil of Tranquility.

Harvested from the Apothecary garden, young Redwood tips bring the fresh green energy of Spring to this meditative blend. Steadfast stewards of coastal Northern California and the Pacific Northwest, these green giants provide habitat for wildlife and conserve moisture for vibrant forests. Medicinally, indigenous communities used a heated poultice of the leaves to treat earaches and the gummy sap used as a stimulant and tonic to support convalescence. Beyond the utility of its wood for modern construction, the fibrous bark was harvested for insulation purposes and also for making paper.

We use Séka Hills Arbequina Olive Oil in this blend, farmed by the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation on their ancestral land in California’s Capay Valley.
